'Tis the Season

So I decided that I wanted to get a lot of stuff done this weekend. Blogging wasn't really at the top of the list, but all things considered, this was the best way to share all of the FUN stuFF that I accomplished. Meagen and Holli showed me that it is NEVER too early to celebrate and decorate for the holidays. I agree completely...so here I go. Enjoy!

Changing Times

November 1st marked the daylight savings time changes. We replaced batteries in the smoke detectors, rotated the tires on the rodeo, cleaned out a few closets, and did several other things that marked that another fall is upon us. Just like the changes to the clocks in our house, our bigger house, our "family" has gone through some changes too!

We have added a son-in-law-in-limbo (tee hee) and a beautiful grandson too. I have failed miserably at updating this blog to reflect the newest additions. So, in my attempt to repent of my shortcoming, I give a shout out to Brady Love. (soon to be son-in-law magnificent) Brady and Madi are living in California now, but the influence that Brady has on our daughter and our entire family is oh so close. He is such a great person. (Even he doesn't know how cool he is). He works very hard, gives Madi the love and support she needs, and is already showing he will be the second best dad in the world! (Sorry, someone ELSE in our family holds the title for number one) K2, KK, Kelvin, Chubs, whatever nickname we are calling our grandbaby these days, was just the cherry on the top of an already AWESOME combination! We are so grateful for these 2 men that have extended our family. And since THANKSGIVING is right around the corner, we thought now would be a GREAT time to let them know. Welcome to the CLAN you two! and...Love Loves.

Happy Birthday to me...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!

Just thought I would drop a quick line and let everyone know that yes, it is official...I am ANOTHER year older! Not that that is really a big deal, I mean EVERYONE gets older every year. (If you're lucky I guess).

So, since it was my birthday, I had lots of fun activities, cards, email and facebook wishes, gifts, and of course, coconut cream pie! So along with the b-day fun, came quite a bit of reflection. I spent some time thinking about where I am, where I am going, and even more so...where I've been. So...without going into a TON of boring details, I will tell you this. My list of things to accomplish before I move on to the next life has many, many things that still need to be checked off. I'm glad another year is on it's way so that I can enjoy life and move forward to accomplish each of those things! And...as usual, I'll keep you posted. :)

College Football 2009

YUP. It's that time of year. College football has arrived! And even though, we don't have an OFFICIAL team to follow...one thing is for sure, we have lots of games to choose from. This past weekend found Jerry doing what he does best. Watching as many games as possible. One big screen, 2 computers, one cell phone with internet capability, and of course, the projection screen. Here's to another great season!

The Doctor that makes House Calls

Over the past 20 years our family has had it's share of medical issues. (THAT is an understatement). I once listed how many surgeries, illnesses, ER visits, hospitalizations, and other things requiring the attention of a doctor. When I got to the 40th surgery in less than 3 years, I gave up.

Recently, we have come across the need of several doctors given Holli's current health issues. Enter Dr. James Woodmansee.

I don't even know where to start when talking about this man. He has been our physician since 1987. He has seen us through just about EVERY medical issue one can imagine. From minor to major, and everything in between. He has seen us at the hospital, called us at our home and at work, when we haven't seen him in a while, in the Dr. Office, and NOW...he even made an appearance at our home. That's right, a doctor that REALLY does make HOUSE CALLS. We enjoy knowing that our "Uncle James" is always concerned about us. We can't begin to ever repay him for all of the kindness that he has shown us over the years, but we know without a doubt, there will be a special place reserved in heaven for him. THANK YOU Dr. Woodmansee.

Summer Family

There is a lot to be said for FAMILY.

My immediate family is of course, my most important thing in life. But every year around June 16th or so, something really cool happens. My summer family arrives and the number of people in my "FAMILY" increases by about 200! My summer family is the group of people that sit in section 2 every year at the Orem Owlz Baseball games. Yes, I know, ANOTHER post about baseball...but hey, these people really ARE family each summer. We hang out at the park, some of us host players, we swap stories about recent vacations to other ball parks and other locations...we even share family trials, illness stories, and other stuff too. Several of us have traveled to away games in Montana, Idaho and Wyoming too. We watch players grow up as well as our own children grow up too. Then when September 16th or so rolls around, we go our seperate ways and talk about how during the off season we will all keep in touch. (Yes we talk, but hardly ever do!) But that's okay, 'cause we ALL know that on June 16th or so next year...our family will be back together again singing Sweet Caroline, and GO OWLZ jingles! There is a lot to be said about family... and the bigger the better is just one of those things!
